- Skin rash that can occur anywhere on the body.
- Pain of muscle, joint, or limb. Sometimes the infection may cause diarrhea or stomach pain.
- Although people with septicaemia often have fever, they can have cold hands and feet.
- And confusion.
Moreover, septicaemia symptoms that appear are usually dependent on the stage of the disease. According to Mayo health center, people with early stage of the disease should have probable /confirmed infection – and experience at least two of the following signs and symptoms:
- Body temperature is about lower than 36 C (96.8 F) or higher than 38.3 C (101 F).
- Increased respiratory rate, above 20 breaths /minute.
- Increased heart rate, above 90 beats /minute.
As the disease progresses, severe septicaemia usually will cause some of the following symptoms:
- Abdominal pain.
- Difficulty to breathe normally.
- Blood test reveals decline in platelet count.
- Changes in heart pumping function.
- Significant decrease in urine output.
- Significant change in patent’s mental status.
Those symptoms may signal an organ that is going to fail. In worse scenario, people with severe septicaemia may develop a condition called ‘septic shock’. It’s usually characterized by extremely hypotension that doesn’t sufficiently respond to simple fluid replacement.
As well as meningitis, septicaemia is also much easier to treat before it becomes advanced. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for both conditions!
Skin rash that doesn’t fade when pressed must not be ignored. It could signal meningitis or/and septicaemia. Seek immediate help if you experience this abnormal symptom, even though if it is mild!
